Paris Police Department Press Release. All are innocent until proven otherwise in a court of law.

April 24, 2025

Officers stopped a vehicle in the 2200 block of S. Collegiate for driving erratically and for an equipment violation. The vehicle did not stop immediately, but when it did, the driver jumped the curb before stopping. The officer made contact with the driver, Zachari Jerod Johnson (33). Johnson was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or some other substance. Johnson was uncooperative during field testing but failed several field tests for intoxication. He was transported to Paris Regional Medical Center, where, after a warrant was received, his blood was drawn for analysis. Johnson was charged with Driving While Intoxicated. It was subsequently discovered that Johnson had previous convictions (two) for DWI, the most recent in February of 2024. His charge was enhanced to DWI with two prior convictions, a Felony. He was processed without further incident.
