Mary Lou Rhoades || Obituary

March 31, 2025

Mary Lou Rhoades was born on September 1, 1942, in Houston, Texas, to Leon Wayne and Clyde Ola Mitchell. Mary Lou departed this earth and gained her wings on March 27, 2025, in Paris, Texas. She will be watching over PaPa, Bubu, Treanice, Dale, and her four grandkids from above.

Mary Lou Rhoades met the love of her life, Gary Edward Rhoades, and married him on June 15, 1970, in Paris, Texas. Mary and Gary had two sons Steve Landers, Kyle Rhoades, and a daughter Shawonna Treanice Barnett. Mary and Gary were a few months shy of their 55th wedding anniversary when she passed.

Mary is survived by her husband, Gary Edward Rhoades, and two children: Steve Landers of Paris, and Shawonna Treanice Barnett and her husband, Jeffrey Dale Barnett, of Honey Grove. Mary has four beloved grandchildren that she adored and spoiled terribly: Trevor Cole Hevron, Devin Reed Hevron, Abram Daniel Brown, and Addison Marie Brown. She basically adopted three more: Nate Ferguson, Sammy Thompson, and Ryan Smith Jr. She is also survived by Blaine Gillie; Robert, Sandy, and Sean Rhoades and his family; Judy Green and her family; James, Linda, and Roger Mitchell and their families; JW and Tiffany Mitchell and their families; and Carole and Courtney Hevron; Bobby, Jenci, Bradyn, Kannyn, and Cruz; Tanya Peevy; and fur her babies: Fred, Fiona, Rodger, Zip, Garfield, Loki, and Kera.

God has his hands full as mom reunites with Wendy May. They will overfeed all of the animals and be up to all kinds of shenanigans and fill heaven with joy and laughter like they did all of us here on Earth. There will never be a more loving, strong-willed, hard-headed, mother, wife, grandmother, and friend like MopMop. Although our hearts are broken that she has left us to walk with Jesus, we realize that she is in a better place free from pain and suffering. We know she is flying high watching over us until we see her again.

Mary Lou is preceded in death by her parents, Leon Wayne and Clyde Ola Mitchell; her two brothers, Tommy and Rod Mitchell; Roy Landers; Kyle Rhoades; Ray and Ricky Hevron; and way too many fur babies to list.

Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 31, 2025, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Dustin May officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will be made in Oakwood Cemetery in Honey Grove, TX.
