Dental Assistant Class Begins April 7, 2025, at Paris Junior College


The Continuing Education Department at Paris Junior College is offering a dental assistant class from April 7 to July 14. The class will meet from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday.

This program prepares students for entry-level positions in one of the fastest-growing healthcare positions. The course provides students with all areas of pre-clinical dental assisting and provides training in the professional skills required to function as an assistant in a dental practice.
The course covers the history of dentistry and dental assisting; introduction to the dental office; legal aspects of dentistry and dental assisting; state dental practice; and policies and guidelines.
The clinical portion of the course includes an introduction to oral anatomy; dental operatory; dental equipment, operation, and maintenance; introduction to tooth structure; primary and permanent teeth; tooth structure; the oral cavity and related structures; proper patient positioning; dental handpieces and dental burns; dental anesthesia; sterilization; maintaining sterility and asepsis and other areas.
In addition to entry-level administrative jobs, this course is ideal for students interested in pursuing a formal dental hygienist program. Textbooks and materials are included in the course fee.
