March 14, 2025,
Detectives of the Paris Police Department observed Benjamin William Brister Jr. (45) in the 700 block of Bonham St. Brister was known to have an active felony warrant. Contact was made with Brister and the warrant was confirmed. After his detention, officers located a cigarette pack containing illegal narcotics on Brister’s person. He was charged with the warrant for Possession of a Controlled Substance as well as an on-view charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance. He was booked without incident.
March 14, 2025,
Officers investigated a disturbance in the 300 block of SW 9th St. They met a victim who advised they had just been assaulted by a common law spouse. The victim said she had been arguing with the suspect, Jeff Joe Dunken (46) and she decided to go to another location. Duncan had then followed the victim on foot, still engaging her verbally at which time the victim called 911. The suspect then put her in a headlock and forcibly took her phone and backpack from her. Officers observed scratches to the victim’s face which she reported were from the assault. The victim advised she was pregnant with Duncan’s child and that he had taken her phone to keep her from reporting the assault. Duncan was arrested and charged with Assault of a Pregnant Person and Interference with an Emergency Call. He was booked and transferred to Lamar County. A Protective Order was requested by the victim.
March 15, 2025,
At 02:30 an officer was dispatched to the 700 block of SE 13th in regards to a traffic accident. He observed that a vehicle, a 2018 Honda CRV, had traveled west on Neathery St, left the roadway and driven through yards impacting a utility pole and several fences as it proceeded in its route. The vehicle was unoccupied. But witnesses had observed several juvenile suspects running away from the area when the incident was reported. The registered owner was notified. They advised officers that their vehicle was at their residence but then noticed that the vehicle was not parked at their home as they had believed it was. It was discovered that the vehicle, which had been parked in the street in the 3600 block of Brownwood Drive, was stolen. The vehicle had been left unlocked with keys in the vehicle. Evidence was recovered from the scene and the vehicle was towed away.
March 15, 2025,
Officers received a report of theft at Wal-Mart. Store security reported that a white male had come into the store and left with over 400.00 in merchandise without paying for it. Store video confirmed the report as well as giving officers a description of the suspect. Through follow-up investigations, officers were able to identify the vehicle the suspect left the scene in and went to the suspect’s residence. They made contact with the suspect, who denied that theft, but did match the description and photographs of the known suspect. The suspect has multiple convictions for theft, making this incident a felony. A warrant will be obtained for the suspect’s arrest.
March 16, 2025,
An officer stopped a vehicle in the 2000 block of East Price for an equipment violation and made contact with Jerome Everidge Tennon (40) who was a passenger in the vehicle. Due to Tennon and the Driver acting suspiciously and making false statements to the officer, they were removed from the vehicle. As Tennon exited the vehicle, he was observed to drop some object to the ground. Later investigation discovered that Tennon had dropped a baggie of narcotics as he exited the vehicle. Tennon was still in possession of drug paraphernalia indicating his use of the narcotics. Tennon was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Officers made 40 traffic stops, 9 adult arrest, and answered 354 calls for service for this reporting period.
