North Lamar Kindergarten Students Experience Colonial-Era Trades with Hands-On Butter Making

February 27, 2025

North Lamar kindergarten students in Mrs. Blanton and Mrs. Cannada’s class stepped back in time today as they explored colonial-era trades through a hands-on butter-making activity. As part of their lesson on historical tradespeople, students learned about the essential skills and craftsmanship of early American settlers, including the art of churning homemade butter.

Using simple ingredients and plenty of enthusiasm, the young learners shook their jars and watched as cream transformed into butter, gaining a deeper understanding of the effort and patience required in colonial times. This engaging activity not only connected them to history but also allowed them to experience science in action and enjoy the reward of their hard work with a delicious, homemade treat.

North Lamar ISD continues to bring history to life for its students through creative, hands-on experiences that foster curiosity and a love for learning. Great job, kindergarteners!
