Paris ISD Lamar Soil and Water Conservation District poster and essay contest winners
Paris ISD students recently received checks for winning entries in the annual Lamar County Soil and Water Conservation District (LSWCD) Poster and Essay Contest. All winning essays and posters have been submitted for judging at the regional level.
In the essay contest, Paris High School seniors Hannah Newberry and Gavin Avery won 1st place and 2nd place in the ages 14 to 18 division, respectively, and received $150 and $80. Aikin Elementary School fourth grader Tripp Jones and Justiss Elementary fourth grader Zaila Bridges won 1st and 2nd places, respectively, in the 13 and under division, and received $80 and $50.
In the poster contest, Justiss fourth grader Oliver Estrada won 1st place, Justiss third grader Josey Hayes won 3rd place and Crockett Intermediate sixth grader Aubree Peralta won fourth place, in the 4th – 6th-grade contest and received $80, $30, and $10. In the Kindergarten-3rd-grade contest, Aikin second graders Paisley Ware placed 1st, and Daisy Matthews placed 3rd. Ware received $50, and Matthews received $20. This year’s essay and poster theme was “Home Is Where the Habitat Is.”
