Vernon Lee Thompson || Obituary
Vernon Lee Thompson, 80, of Paris, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 16, 2025, while surrounded by his family.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services, with military honors, for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the Pavilion of Red Hill Cemetery with Rev. Samuel Evers and Brandon Lee Thompson officiating. Burial will be made in Red Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 5 – 7 p.m.
Mr. Thompson, the son of A. O. Thompson & Sarah Voncile Boland Thompson, was born on January 1, 1945, in Wewoka, OK.
He graduated from Midland High School and entered the United States Army, serving three years during the Vietnam War. Vernon was stationed in Hawaii. It was during this time he married Suzanne McCoy on Sept. 5, 1967, building 57 years of family and memories. Upon his honorable discharge, the couple moved to Midland and then in 1971 to Paris. He was a butcher at Brookshire’s for many years. In 1977, he opened Thompson’s A-1 Furniture and Antiques, which he owned and operated until his retirement.
Vernon was a faithful member of Pathway Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Debra Ann West & husband Anthony, and a brother, Ronald Wade Thompson.
Survivors include his wife, Suzanne, three children, Lisa Ann Thompson-Parker, Kevin Lee Thompson, and Brandon Lee Thompson & wife Pamela Ann, three grandchildren, Caden Lee Thompson, Olivia Grace Thompson, and Beckham Lee Thompson, two sisters, Sue Culver & husband Benny and Kathy Weddle & husband Jim along with numerous nieces & nephews and a host of friends, including his friend, Roger Dale Morgan, who was as a brother to him.
