North Lamar Culinary Students Shine at Grayson College Competition

This past Friday, eight students from the North Lamar Culinary team competed in the 2nd annual competition at Grayson College, earning both 2nd and 3rd place in the Pastry and Savory categories. All competitors were awarded a $100 scholarship, with the following students earning additional scholarships for their placements:

In the Pastry category, North Lamar students impressed the judges with their creativity and technique:

  • 2nd Place: Isabel Gomez earned a $750 scholarship for her outstanding pastry creation.
  • 3rd Place: Morgan Hicks secured a $500 scholarship with her delicious entry.

In the Savory category, North Lamar students continued to excel:

  • 2nd Place: Eliza Thompson was awarded a $750 scholarship for her exceptional savory dish.
  • 3rd Place: Wiley Quillan earned a $500 scholarship with his flavorful culinary presentation.

“We are incredibly proud of all our students who competed. Their hard work, dedication, and passion for culinary arts were evident in every dish they presented,” said Chef Mickey Reed, North Lamar High School’s Culinary Arts instructor.

The North Lamar Culinary program continues to provide students with opportunities to develop their culinary skills, compete at high levels, and earn scholarships that support their future careers in the culinary industry.
