Maurine Posey Bryant || Obituary

Maurine Posey Bryant, age, 91, of Reno, passed away on January 25, 2025, while surrounded by her girls.

Services will be held at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Reno, Texas with Brother Tim Reger officiating. Visitation with friends and family be Tuesday, January 28, 2025, and will begin at 1:00 PM and funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Union Grove Cemetery in Reno, Texas.

Maurine was born September 6, 1933, in Caviness, Texas. She was the daughter of Willie D. and Cora Spears Posey. She graduated from Blossom High School in 1951 and began working for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and retired in 1983. She married Melvin Ray Bryant in Paris, Texas on January 6, 1954. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and Telephone Pioneers and Communication Workers of America.

Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Anita and Ricky Mabb, Shari and Bobby Fortner, and Patti and Chris Griffith; eleven grandchildren, Corey Hicks and wife, Kristen, Erica Smith and husband, Jamie, Aaron Mabb and wife, Olivia, Shelbi Mabb-Cluck and husband, Rob, Toni Jackson and husband, Eldon, Bryant Fortner and wife, Lauren, Chase Smallwood and wife, Brittany, Cole Smallwood and wife, Alicia, Dillon Smallwood and fiancé, Becca Paulson, Tyler Griffith and Harley Griffith; 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Mary Ballard as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband on October 10, 1985; her parents; her siblings, George, Billy, Virene, and Betty; and son-in-law, Jeffrey Smallwood.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the nursing staff at Heritage House, Paris Regional Hospital, and Elara Hospice.
