Mary Jo Posey Tallant || Obituary

Mary Jo Posey Tallant, 97, a loving mother, of Paris, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Pine Tree Ranch Assisted Living.

Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Norris officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Casket bearers will be Larry Rhea Jr., Brian Rhea, Patrick Grace, Jacob Grace, Thomas Garcia, and Royce Tallant.

Mrs. Tallant, the daughter of John Wesley Posey & Maudie Emma Taylor Posey, was born November 6, 1927, in Wellington, TX.

While living in Austin, she enjoyed volunteering at the hospital. Mary Jo was a member of the Lamar Church of Christ and the Eastern Star. She was a volunteer for the Lamar County Genealogical Society.

Her husband, Duane E. Tallant, preceded her in death on April 23, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law, Larry Lee Rhea, Sr., a daughter-in-law, Janet Faye Tallant, two sisters, Zona Bell Williams and Melba Jean Jones, and a brother, Donnie Ray Posey.

Survivors include her children, Chester Duane Tallant & wife Martha, Wesley Thomas Tallant & wife Stephanie, Mary Denise Rhea, and Melissa Ann Grace & husband Tim, grandchildren, Karen Jo Garcia & husband Thomas, Kimberly Marie Tallant, Kevin Lee Tallant & wife Amber, Jonathan Edward Tallant, Michael Ray Tallant & wife Melissa, Larry Lee Rhea, Jr. & wife Christi, Brian Duane Rhea & wife Laura, Kari Denise Daniel, Patrick Ryan Grace, Elizabeth D’Lynn Grace, and Jacob Thomas Grace and nine great grandchildren along with many nieces & nephews and a host of friends.

The family would like to extend appreciation to Pine Tree Ranch Assisted Living, Golden Care Home Health, Platinum Home Health, and Dr. Thomas Troutt for the care given their loved one.
