Gary Lynn Tribbey of Paris, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Paris Medical Center. He was 86 years old.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home in Paris, Texas. Graveside services, with Full Military Honors, will take place on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Restland Cemetery in Roxton, Texas.

Born on February 24, 1938, in Paris, Texas, to Howard Stovall Tribbey and Eleanor Irion-Tribbey, Gary spent his entire life in the Paris area. He attended Paris High School before enlisting in the United States Army in 1961, proudly serving his country until his honorable discharge in 1963.

Gary was passionate about cars, devoting more than 40 years to the automotive industry, specializing in paint and bodywork. He worked at both the Chevrolet and Ford dealerships in Paris. His love for cars extended beyond work—he enjoyed fixing them and attending car shows. Gary’s life was enriched by his other joys, including cheering for the Dallas Cowboys, savoring apple pie, watching Westerns, and admiring the legendary John Wayne. Above all, he cherished his family.

On May 25, 1984, Gary married Gena Hunt, and together they built a loving life in Paris, Texas.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents; the mother of his two oldest children, Sandra Copeland-Tribbey; and his mother-in-law, Leonia Hunt.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Gena Tribbey, of the home; his children: Gaylon Tribbey and wife Joy of McAlester, Oklahoma, Carmen Melton and husband Phillip of Paris, Texas, and Chris Barber of Paris, Texas; his grandchildren: Aaron Davenport and wife Jordana of Durant, Oklahoma, Jason Atwood of Reno, Texas, Creede Tribbey of McAlester, Oklahoma and Hillary Kozuch and husband Nathan of Hungary.  One great-grandson, Micah Davenport, great-granddaughter Lorelei Kozuch, and a great-granddaughter expected in February. He is also survived by his brother, Bill Tribbey, and wife Nadra of Paris, Texas, as well as numerous extended family members and dear friends.
