Donald Wayne Wear || Obituary
Donald Wayne Wear, 74, of Reno, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2025, at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Frisco, with his family by his side. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the Paris Church of God, with Kevin Adams and Rev. Doug Holt officiating. Interment will follow at the Knights of Honor Cemetery, where William Connor Keating, Donovan Preston, Joel Keating, Bobby Wear, Brian Wear and Kenny Rhodes will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, January 22, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.
Don was born on January 15, 1951, in Paris, Texas, to William Bailey and Gracie Molly Barnett Wear. He graduated from Blossom High School, where he was active in sports, particularly basketball. He was a devoted member of the Paris Church of God and served on the church board for many years.
Don began his career at the age of 15 at Smith Carpets as a janitor. His dedication and hard work led him to roles as a salesman, store manager, and eventually, co-owner of the business. Throughout his life, Don’s strong work ethic and commitment to his family were evident, but above all, his deep love for God remained his guiding principle.
He married the love of his life, Ruth Marie Talley on October 13, 1976, in Paris, Texas. Together, they built a loving family, which was his greatest source of joy and pride
Donald is survived by his wife, Ruth Wear; daughters, Julie Johnson and her husband, Brian Johnson and Tina Burma; grandchildren, Kelsey Shea Preston, Donovan Preston, William Connor Keating, Madeleine Keating, Joel Keating, Makenzie Williams, and Jayce Shelby; 6 great- grandchildren; brothers, Billy Wear, Raymond Wear, Melvin Wear and Bobby Wear; and a sister, Gretta Baker.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jason Wear, his parents, William Bailey and Gracie Wear; and four siblings.
