BU 271 Sidewalk Project

PARIS – Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced the sidewalk installation project on BU 271. The project will run from the intersection of BU 271 and 18th street east to the intersection of BU 271 and 34th street.

This contract was awarded to THK Construction, LLC with 275 working days at a cost of $2,222,428.62. The contractor is set to begin work on January 20, 2025, and the anticipated completion date for the project is January 25, 2026, weather permitting.

The work on this project will include the construction of sidewalks and pedestrian ramps on the north and south sides of the roadway along BU 271B. This project will also include improvements to cross drainage structures to allow for the placement of the sidewalk. This project will involve work on and off of the pavement with temporary lane and shoulder closures during construction operations.

Motorists who travel frequently in these areas are asked to pay special attention to all barricades, traffic controls and signs, and to reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.
