Richard Lee Sharrock || Obituary

Richard Lee Sharrock, 65, of Paris, passed away Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025, at U. T. Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.

Services are scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5th at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Jordan Sharrock & Rev. Justin Wideman officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Richard, the son of Claude “Sonny” Sharrock & Jimmie Bramlett Sharrock, was born May 3, 1959, in Ft. Worth, TX.

He graduated from North Lamar High School where he excelled in sports. Richard worked for the family business until 1982, when he established Metro Gate which is still operating today.

Richard was passionate about life and his Christian faith. He led his family through Christ and discipled many in a belief in Jesus Christ. He was a faithful member of Freedom Church. Being a Christian, he maintained a comfortable and composed disposition.

He coached many children in softball in the Paris area and built the first softball field at North Lamar High School.

His father, Sonny Sharrock, and his father-in-law, J. L. Wideman Jr. preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Janie Wideman Sharrock, whom he married on Dec. 24, 1980, building 44 years of family and memories, three children, Kristin Fendley & husband Craig, Jordan Sharrock & wife Hailey, and Meagan Musgrove & husband Stoney, grandchildren, Keegan Fendley, Case Fendley, Cole Fendley, Addison Sharrock, Haidan Sharrock, Mayzie Musgrove, and Andrie Musgrove, his mother, Jimmie Hodges & husband Charles, siblings, Marty Sharrock & wife Marchelle, Rusty Sharrock & Stacy and Brenda Sharrock, his mother-in-law, Camille Wideman and brothers-in-law, Gary Wideman & Vicky and Scotty Wideman & wife Justine along with several nieces & nephews and a host of friends

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Richard Sharrock Memorial Softball Scholarship, P. O. Box 1609, Paris, TX 75461.
