Celia “Becky” Rebecca Procter || Obituary

Celebration of Becky’s life will be a graveside service at Restland Cemetery in Roxton, TX on Friday, December 27, 2024, at 2:00 PM.  Pastor Danny Moody will officiate. Visitation will be at Fry Gibbs Funeral Home on December 26, 2024, from 6:00pm-8:00pm.

Becky was born in Paris, TX on July 28, 1951, to Glen and Mamie Fletcher.  She grew up in Roxton and graduated from Roxton High School in 1969. In 1979 she started working at Kmart in Paris, TX where she was the personnel manager until 2000. Upon the closure of Kmart, she began working for the State of Texas in Health and Human Services until officially retiring in 2010.

In 2002, she met her soulmate Charles “Tommy” Merrell.  Over the last 22 years they have built a wonderful life together.  They loved to travel visiting many states making a lifetime of memories. Becky loved traveling by train as much as flying and seeing the world from a different perceptive. She and Tommy both loved going to concerts as well. Becky loved her flowers.  Anyone that visits their home can see her love for flowers. She took pride in her flowerbeds and could identify any flower, knowing all the characteristics to care for it. She also loved going to estate sales and garage sales looking for that bargain. Where she really shined was in the kitchen. She definitely had a passion for cooking and sharing with anyone that came to her home.  Her giving spirit would often lead her to taking food back to local people and businesses as her way of saying “thank you” for taking care of her needs. These are some of the many things she loved to do for the community. She was a giver.  She was a member of East Paris Baptist Church and was very involved in her Sunday School class.

She is survived by her life partner, Charles “Tommy” Merrell, son, Patrick Stager and wife, Brandi; Grandchildren, Kelcie and Rylan Stager.  Sisters, Glenda King and late husband, Bob King, Lila Screws and late husband, Mike Screws; Brothers, Dennis and Jeff Fletcher; Nieces, Sheri Ashford and husband, Brad, Lauri Funderburg and husband, Tommy, Bren Garrett and husband, Jason, Kara Rosson and husband, Garath, Hali Cashion and husband, Ryan; Great nephews, Nicholas Grayson, Kain Rosson, Lane and Henry Cashion; Great nieces, Taylan Cobb and Emri Rosson.

Becky is proceeded in death by her brother, James “Jimmy” Fletcher, and her parents, Glen and Mamie Fletcher.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Aspire Ministries, Paris TX and the Roxton Food Pantry or any other local charity of your choice.
