Ann Fouts Norment || Obituary
Ann Fouts Norment was born on August 13, 1933, in Stonewall County near Aspermont, Texas to LaVerne Gholson and James Arnold Fouts.
Ann attended elementary school in Old Glory, Texas until the family moved to Wichita Falls, Texas in 1944. She graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1950 with honors and from Texas State College for Women, now Texas Women’s University with honors in 1954.
She was grateful for the long and happy life and appreciative for the kind and loving Gholson grandparents, aunts, and uncles whom she believed gave her the self-confidence to work hard for success during her early childhood.
In 1954 she married Robert Sims Norment on the campus of the Texas State College for Women. She is survived by two sons, Edward Sims Norment and his wife Becki, Russell James Norment and his wife Vivian. Grandsons, Pate Norment & his wife Colbie, Chet Norment & his partner Nathan Cohen, Marshall Norment & his wife Caroline, and Stewart Norment, great grandchildren Porter, Elliot, Thomas, Raleigh, and James Norment.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Bob Fouts, and husband Robert Norment.
Ann’s passion was teaching. She taught at Grand Prairie High School, Paris Junior College, Travis Junior High, and Paris High School for over 40 years. She was a strong advocate for public education and the first ever winner of the Teacher of the Year award from the Paris Independent School District. She was a teacher 24/7.
She was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church for 70 years, Retired Teachers of Lamar/Delta County, and Cosmos Club.

Funeral services will be at the Open-Air Chapel at Evergreen Cemetery at 11:00am, Saturday Dec. 21, 2024.
