TCA Lady Warriors Finish 2024 Volleyball Season

The Trinity Christian Academy Lady Warriors lost their playoff game to Immanual Christian School from El Paso last night 25-13, 25-8, and 25-15 ending their 2024 season. In the first-round playoff game for the TCAF State Title, TCA Paris got the unlucky draw of facing the reining 2023 state champion team in the playoff bracket. Immanual Christian is a high school of 154 students versus TCA Paris of 47 in their high school.

Before the game, Coach Tami Smallwood and Coach Cora Pyeatt recognized four girls that made All-District 1st Team – Team Captain Cenzie Pyeatt (Junior) Setter/OH, Rimini Covington (Sophomore) Setter/RS, Abby Merritt (Sophomore) OH/RS, and Selah Binger (Sophomore) OH/RS. Three girls were named to 2nd Team All District – McKenna Wiltse (Junior) MH/MB, Kinleigh Berry (Sophomore) MH/MB, and Devyn Marrs (sophomore) L/DS. This season, Rimini Covington and Abby Merritt also received Red River Valley Athlete of the Week awards.

Coach Smallwood said she has thoroughly enjoyed coaching this group of girls. They are one of the best teams she’s ever coached, and they made her proud! She is looking forward to next year already.

Athletic Director Michael Rushing said “I am very proud of all you girls for your performance tonight. You had a very hard hand dealt to you, and from what I saw, y’all were pushed really hard, and it brought out the best volleyball that I have seen from you all this year! Not one senior on the team, I have no doubt next year will be TCA’s best year of volleyball ever. Coach Smallwood and Coach Pyeatt I know are very proud of y’all, and they did a great job for y’all this year. Proud of everyone!”
