Equipment violation turns into possession of controlled substance || October 25, 2024

On October 23, 2024, Everett Henry Aker (65) was stopped for an equipment violation in the 1100 block of W. Sherman. He and a passenger in the vehicle were detained and an open alcoholic beverage was found in the vehicle. Aker began making furtive movements towards the back seat of the vehicle. He was removed from the vehicle and a search performed. Narcotics were found in a backpack in the back seat of the vehicle. Aker’s identification was located inside the backpack as well. Akers was charged with Possession of a controlled substance over 4 grams, a Felony. The passenger was released.
