Morrison, along with her then-boyfriend, Christian Sims, were charged with murder for killing Christian Sims’ grandmother, a retired North Lamar teacher named Annie Lois Sims, in 2014. She was found dead in her Powderly, TX home a week before Christmas with multiple gunshot wounds.

Morrison and Christian Sims were arrested at a Motel 6 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, later that night. The teens were returned to Lamar County on Dec. 23, 2014.

Christian Sims pleaded out during his case and is serving 35 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Correctional Division. Ashley Eva Morrison, pleaded guilty to murder in exchange for a prison sentence not to exceed 30 years.
