T.L. Ladd || Obituary

T.L. Ladd, born on April 12th of 1943 left this earth on October 12, 2024. Services will be held at Life Tabernacle in Cunningham, TX on October 15th. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, and services to follow at 2:00 PM. Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

T.L. or “Bone” was the son of Opal and Taylor Ladd of Cunningham, TX. He had three sisters; Melba Baker, Shelby Kennedy and Shirley Ladd and one brother, Steve Ladd and wife, Carolyn Ladd. T.L. enjoyed spending time with his siblings and they would often get together where he would request homemade biscuits made by Shelby.

T.L. Ladd was born and raised in Cunningham, TX. He began his own business, Ladd Masonry, in 1968. T.L. employed and trained several nephews and his own sons. He had a passion for creating, building, and meeting new people. These attributes led him to have a successful business spanning several decades. T.L. treated people fairly and family recall him ensuring his employees were paid before himself.

T.L. married the love of his life, Carol Jean Mantooth, in 1988. They maintained a happy and crazy home for 36 years. T.L. always reflected on how much fun they had throughout the years and enjoyed re-telling their stories when given the opportunity.

He lived life on his terms. He loved his family and friends unconditionally and was an exceptional father.  He was a selfless man who would help anyone in need, often offering money to many, including his children’s friends. He enjoyed hunting, taking pictures, working on old cars, and traveling. T.L. never met a stranger, he loved to laugh, and was often considered the life of the party.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Opal and Taylor Ladd, a sister Syble Ladd, Granddaughter Alivia White, Brother in law Bobby Ray Kennedy and several nephews.

T.L. is survived by his wife, Carol; his sons, Darrin and Swede and his wife, Melissa, Brittney Ladd White, Briggette and her husband, Jack White, and Brooklyn Ladd. He had eight grandchildren: Hannah Comstock, Dawson Huie, Aden Gant, Mason White, Kamdyn Ladd, Brady White, Rowan White, and Arden White. He had two great grandchildren; Gracie McGowin and Easton Huie along with several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Kennedy, Heath Kennedy, Chad Whitley, Jack White, Kirt Wear, and Aden Gant.

Honorary Pallbearers are Charlie Baker, Jimbo Thompson, Tony Moore, Hunter Landers, Cheyney Bryan, and Tuttle Whitley.
