Texas 2A Mantique & Lamar County Adopt a Cop Presents: Aaron Tippin Live in Reno Kiwanis Park

Lamar County Adopt a Cop was established in the wake of the tragic shooting in Dallas, Texas, on July 7, 2016, when an armed assailant ambushed police officers, resulting in the deaths of five officers and injuries to nine others and two civilians. This heartbreaking incident underscored the urgent need for enhanced protective gear for law enforcement, who were primarily equipped with Level II vests designed for lower ballistics. The events in Dallas highlighted the necessity for Level IV armor to better protect officers in such dangerous situations.

Inspired by Brandi Leber of Hopkins County, Amanda Willows founded Lamar County Adopt a Cop in 2016, motivated by a deep concern for the safety of local law enforcement. Her goal was to ensure that officers were properly equipped to face similar threats with the protection they needed.

Thanks to the incredible support and dedication of our community, Lamar County Adopt a Cop has successfully provided all local law enforcement officers with Level IV ballistic vests and helmets. It’s essential to recognize that these protective items have a lifespan, typically expiring every 5 to 10 years.

Beyond armor, Lamar County Adopt a Cop continues to supply critical life-saving equipment that officers may not have readily available during emergencies. This includes heavy ballistic helmets, flashlights, winter gear, first aid kits with life-saving tourniquets, and more. The organization has also assisted neighboring counties in acquiring essential gear.

As the time for replacing these vital vests approaches, a fundraising concert is on the horizon. Aaron Tippin will perform live at Reno Kiwanis Park on October 19th to help raise funds for this important cause. “Our hope is to not only host a fun event for the community but also to assist Lamar County Adopt a Cop in raising the funds needed to provide new ballistic equipment for all 120+ LEOs in our area,” said Jeff Padier from Texas 2A Mantique.
