Mary Lou Wall || Obituary

August 22, 2024

As it is written in Proverbs, her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. She has done excellently well in her lifetime surpassing others, having served her Lord diligently.

Such is the life of Mary Lou Wall, 91, who passed from this world on August 20th, surrounded by her loving family. Mary Lou was born on April 10, 1933, in Montague County, Texas. She passed as she lived, with graciousness and a readiness to enter into her heavenly home.

Mary Lou met the love of her life, Donald Wall, and they married on April 12, 1953, in Gainesville, TX. Her life, with her forever sweetheart, was an adventure that she embraced with passion and Christian duty. She and Donald celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with a vow renewal on April 12, 2023, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Blossom, Texas, where she had been a member for over forty years. From 1957-1970, she and her family lived in Maracaibo, Venezuela, moving back to the states to Paris, Texas, in 1970. One of her greatest joys was providing a happy nurturing home for her three beautiful daughters, whom she doted upon. She also enjoyed playing bridge and golf as well as traveling the world with her husband. For the last 17 years they would live in Arizona for half a year and Paris the other half. In Arizona she found a group of friends whom she loved dearly and considered them like family. Mary Lou was truly an inspiring woman to those who knew her. She had the kindest of temperaments. Her quiet, friendly demeanor was ever present, and she found contentment in the simple pleasures of life. One of her many attributes was the art of hospitality. She was always the most gracious of hostesses and had a talent for making any and everyone she met feel important.

She was a dedicated servant for various programs. She made many trips to disaster sites with the Salvation Army Disaster Relief Program. Also, Mary Lou was a member of the Paris Kiwanis Club and the Gideon Auxiliary. She knew that when you go about life in service to others that you were serving the Lord, and a life serving the Lord is never in vain. Likewise, so went her 91 years where she lived, loved, and served well, where someone so petite left huge footprints. Yes, Mary Lou touched everyone she knew in a deep and profound way. She was beautiful in every way, a comforter, and the most compassionate of women. The last days of her life, she was at peace and awaiting her new home. Mary Lou loved God with all her heart and loved people as Jesus did. Mary Lou is survived by her husband of 71 years, Donald Wall, of Paris; daughters Debbie Spencer and husband Billy Don of Paris, and Deanna Cobb and husband Richard of Paris; son-

in-law Stacy Lyon of Blossom. Also, grandchildren Marisa Glosson and husband Josh, Paige Latham and husband Rocky, Donald Preyer, Jamie Cox and husband Josh, Nelson Cobb and wife Elise, Mary Perry and husband Keaton, and Benton Cobb; twelve great grandchildren, Blake Lyon and wife Ashley, Madison Mobley and husband Blaine, Colton Danna, Matthew Clark, Mabrye Clark, Hunter Grace and Aliyah Latham, Brody Glosson, Kaisley Perry, Olivia Cobb, Trenton Cox, and Weston Cox; and three great great grandchildren, Kase Lyon, Kally Lyon and Kodie Clark; niece, Leslie Wall White and husband Ken; nephew, Brian Wall and sister-in-law, Pat Wall, along with a plethora of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Paul Leo and Alice Ellis Whitecotton, a daughter, Donett Lyon; mother-in-law and father-in –law, Abner and Karnese Wall; brother-in-law, Daon Wall and sister-in-law, D’Elva Wall Crenshaw.

Services are set for 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Buddy Greer officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time and a private graveside will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
