Onvie L. Harville Hayes || Obituary
Onvie L. Harville Hayes, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend to many, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at The Heritage House in Paris TX.
She was 91 years old. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 26 at 2:00 PM at the Bright-Holland Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Fortenberry and Rickey Hayes officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Burial will follow at the Lone Star Cemetery.
She was born the youngest of six children in Rugby Texas, Red River County, to William Earl Harville and Eva Frances Tidwell Harville on June 22, 1933. She married Coyle Hayes on Dec. 20,1954. Together they had four children, better known as the Hayes Boys. She retired from the business office of The Paris News in 2009.
She and Coyle spent many evenings at different baseball and football fields watching the boys play ball, and in later years attended sports activities, piano recitals, band concerts and any other activity that the grandkids were involved in. She was happiest and at her best when she was caring for her boys and then later her grandchildren.
Many great meals were shared around her kitchen table. The numbers grew over the years for Saturday lunch with many of the boy’s friends showing up to eat. She was a great cook, and it made no difference to her if she was preparing a meal for five or twenty-five, everyone was welcome.
Onvie had a true servant’s heart. She is the last of her generation and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband Coyle, her parents, her siblings, Dovie Black, Willie Rowin, William (Buddy) Harville, Connie Harville, and Corrine Ward. She is survived by her four sons, Rickey and wife Wendy of Owasso OK, Randall and wife Teri, Ronald and wife Kay, and Roland and wife Becky, all of Paris, twelve grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
Serving as Pallbearers will be grandsons, Micah Hayes, Joe Hayes, Joel Hayes, Russell Hayes, Dustin Smyers, and Drew Smyers.
