Detroit FFA Team Members attended the 96th Annual Texas FFA State Convention

Detroit FFA had 8 student officers and leadership team members, as well as two FFA Advisors who attended the 96th Annual Texas FFA State Convention in Houston. The students had state-level duties from Sunday, July 7th through Friday, July 12th, during Hurricane Beryl.

At the 4th General Session of the 96th Annual Texas FFA Convention in Houston on July 11th, Madeleine was awarded a $20,000 scholarship from the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for her outstanding accomplishments over her 4-year career in FFA and academics!
“Best Wishes this fall as she starts college at Texas A&M University as a part of the Fighting Texas Aggies Corp of Cadets!”
Alissa Eudy and Shelton Wooley were selected to serve as 2024 Texas FFA Convention State Courtesy Corp Members. They attended meetings and assisted with the events as they served to help attendees maneuver through their agenda. Alissa was selected to serve as the 24-25 Paris District FFA Student Advisor. Shelton was selected from his essay application by the State Officers and State Staff.
 Laura Cooper was selected for the second time to serve as a member of the Texas FFA Foundation Ambassador Team and as a Senior Ambassador. Her duties were to assist with the behind-the-scenes work and support of Texas FFA. She helped corporate and local sponsors and award members during the 96th Annual Texas FFA State Convention.
Detroit’s own Olivia Lee helped sing the National Anthem at the Houston Astros Game on July 10th. She was chosen for the second year to serve on the prestigious Texas FFA State Convention Chorus. She practiced and performed during the week of the 96th Annual Texas FFA Convention! She was accepted by applying and sending in a vocal audition tape. Only 30 students from across Texas were accepted this year.
Makenna has qualified for the Vegas Tuffest Junior World Championship Rodeo. She will be competing this December in Las Vegas with her horse in the Goat Tying Event. Makenna competes in many Rodeos, and is a member of the DHS Class of 2026, she serves as the 2024-25 Detroit FFA Advisor.
Detroit FFA was represented on July 10th by 3 State Voting Delegates at the Texas FFA Convention in Houston. They were also represented on July 11th by 3 State Voting Delegates at the 96th Annual Texas FFA Convention in Houston. They helped select the state officer team while representing the school and community at the state level.
