Austen Hope Cheney || Obituary
Austen Hope Cheney, age 9, of Lamar County, TX, passed away on June 29, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and joy that touched everyone who knew her. Born on May 19, 2015, Austen was a beautiful soul who loved playing with her sisters, brother, cousins, and of course, her LOL dolls. The love of her life was her daddy; he was her hero. If you asked her who her best friend was, she would say, “Uncle Jerry.”
Austen was a beloved daughter, sister, and friend. Her radiant smile and infectious enthusiasm for life brought happiness to everyone around her. She loved to sing and tell stories, always keeping her family entertained with creative interpretations of song lyrics. She was a strong, determined, and compassionate little angel. Austen was a cherished student at Aaron Parker Elementary, where she was known for her
eagerness to learn, her creative spirit, and for letting everyone know she was their friend.
She is survived by her loving parents, Dustin Cheney, Meagan Earley, and Dakota Earley; her siblings, Addisen Cheney, Atlas Cheney, and Grace Earley; her grandparents, Darron Cheney, Vicki Cheney, Linda Cheney, Rocky Rogers, Mike Hall, and Nannette Hall; and a large extended family of great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, including her Dravet family, who will forever hold her in their hearts.
A memorial service to celebrate Austen’s life will be held on July 6 at 2 p.m. at Aaron Parker Elementary.
Austen’s memory will forever be a beacon of light and love for all who knew her. Though her time with us was far too short, her spirit and the joy she brought will never be forgotten. Her family takes great comfort in knowing that she was met with open arms by all who went before her.
Rest in peace, sweet Austen. You will always be remembered and cherished.
