Former Bonham Police office charged with fraud and tampering with a witness

Former Bonham Police Officer, Patrick Howell was arrested on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, accused of insurance fraud and tampering with a witness by the Texas Rangers.

Bonham Police Chief Andrew Hawkes said Howell was let go in 2023 for policy violations from an internal investigation. A criminal investigation was being conducted at the same time. Howell also served as a Fannin County deputy.

Howell was charged with two felony warrants issued by Fannin County. The fraud charge could fine Howell between $30,000 and $150,000 for the tampering of a witness.

Howell bonded out of the Grayson County Jail on Thursday.
