David Junior O’Dell 1953-2024

David Junior O’Dell, 71, of Blossom, passed from this life on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at his home. David was born on January 31, 1953, to Jimmie and Thelma Hines O’Dell. He married Jacqueline Spencer on June 20, 1970, after knowing her since he was 6 years old. David served proudly in the United States Army until he was honorably discharged.

Afterward, he had many trades, but nothing could compare to the ability and craftsmanship that he held as a painter. He loved painting and spent over 30 years doing so. David loved the outdoors and spent as much time as possible fishing and enjoying life with his children and grandchildren, whom he loved bigger than any fish he ever caught.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie and Thelma, as well as his brothers, Larry O’Dell of Paris, and Jackie O’Dell of Clarksville, TX. He leaves behind his loving wife of 54 years, Jacqueline, as well as their three children – David O’Dell of Blossom, Kimberly Wright and husband Mikey of Bogata, James O’Dell and wife Kelli of Blossom, and one sister – Mary Fields and husband Ricky of Paris.

David also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, Morgan Beeman and husband Robert, Kaleb Carico and wife Kayla, Ethan Wright and wife Lindsey, Addisyn O’Dell, Gavin O’Dell, Jessica Wright, Dusty Wright and wife Jacee, Shelby O’Dell, Alissa O’Dell, Emily Williams and husband Cody, Matthew O’Dell, Brittany Cherry and husband Richard, and Austin Peterson-Wright, as well as 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

David lived a long life filled with love, laughter and family. Though our hearts are heavy, we know that he will continue to live on through those that he leaves behind, while he is on his eternal fishing trip.

Cremation was under the care and direction of Bright-Holland Funeral Home. The family will schedule a memorial gathering at a later date.
