Josie Carrington

Josie Carrington passed peacefully from her earthly life and into the arms of her Savior on May 19, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born March 7, 1941, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas to parents, Walter Hunter and Jessie Lee Lunsford Hunter. She attended Paris Junior College and worked at and retired from the Paris Public Library.

Josie was blessed with a happy spirit. Her constant smile complimented her feisty nature. She loved to read, do puzzles, and play games with her family. She attended sporting events with family and was never without a hug and smile to give away.

She was a woman of service to her family and community and her God. She served as President of the BPW (Business Professional Women) for 6 years; an active member of First Baptist Church, where she served in several ministries and volunteered at the Paris Regional Auxillary. She was a devoted wife to Dee Carrington for 58 years, a loving mother to her children, and a kind grandmother to many. She loved her God and spent many hours in prayer and studying His words. Her greatest gift was the faith she passed on to her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dee Carrington, and a son, Larry Carrington.

She is survived by her children;  daughters, Cindy Riddles and husband, Murray, and Karen Carrington; son, Dean Carrington; grandchildren, Lucas Carrington and wife, Kat, Drew Riddles and wife, Morgan, Jessie Carrington, Jennifer Carrington, Riley Moore and wife, Sonya, JoeDee Moore and wife, Elaina; great-grandchildren, Zek Moore, Amelia Pagan, Lucien Pagen, Amara Moore, Gabriel Moore, Zoe Moore, Ira Riddles, Hugo Riddles, Cole Zulegar, Katelyn Cowles, Kris Cowles; one sister, Peggy Strain.

She will always be remembered for her strength, her testimony of faith, her sweet smile and spirit and her twinkling eyes.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In 2016, Josie entered into Brentwood Terrace Memory Care. She was well-loved and cared for by all the many hands and hearts there. Our family would like to extend a very special thanks to them all.
