Janice Welch Armstrong


Janice Welch Armstrong, 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 24, 2024.  Janice was born at home in Forest Hill, on Oct. 25, 1939, to Bill and Vera Blackshear Welch.  Janice married the love of her life, Bobby Ray Armstrong on Feb. 15, 1958.  They were married for 66 years.  Janice was a member of Forest Hill United Methodist Church.  Janice loved her Savior and had unwavering faith.  Janice was the most loving, sweet and selfless person.  She would never let anyone go hungry, you always had a plate at her house.  Her great-grandkids always loved her fried chicken, as we all did.  She worked at West Lamar/Chisum schools for several years and was loved by everyone.  She was known for her wonderful homemade rolls.

Funeral services are set for Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 11 a.m., at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with visitation set for one hour before the service.  Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Forest Hill, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Vera Welch, a son Michael Armstrong, and a great-granddaughter Ada Faye Armstrong and brother Glen Welch.

She is survived by her husband Bobby Armstrong, two sons; David Armstrong and his wife Selena, and Clint Armstrong and his wife Bonnie, grandchildren; Josh Armstrong, Luke Armstrong and his wife Raegan, Jeremy Armstrong and his wife Shayla, Meagan Reed and husband Colby, Cody Armstrong and wife Amanda, Cade Armstrong and Elisha Skidmore, and Dylan Armstrong.  She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, whom she adored, Stryker and Trapper Reed, Ava, Ash, Vera and Ivy Armstrong, Alycia Spradlin, Ansley Armstrong, Anson and Clara Armstrong, and Cooper Armstrong.  She is also survived by one brother David Welch and two sisters; Wyveta Welch and Othella Welch, a host of brothers-in-law, family and many lifelong friends.

Her grandsons are called pallbearers:  Luke Armstrong, Cade Armstrong, Jeremy Armstrong, Cody Armstrong, Dylan Armstrong and Colby Reed.

The family would like to thank Chambers Hospice, especially Kara Willis, and all the caregivers, for providing excellent care in the last days.
