Phyllis Dawn Newton


Phyllis Dawn Newton went to be in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, April 22, 2024, at her home in Paris. 

Phyllis was 65 years old. Phyllis was born in Goose Bay NL, Canada on April 11, 1959, to Grady Wade Risinger and Shirley Ann Risinger (Tindell). Phyllis graduated from Poplar Springs High School in Graceville, Florida. Phyllis worked for years as a phlebotomy technician for various doctor’s offices and was promoted to office manager until she retired from the medical field. Phyllis was a bartender at the fraternal order of the Eagles Lodge in Paris, where she was a member for years, and worked until she departed from this earth.

Phyllis loved her family, especially her grandchildren; loved her friends; adored hummingbirds and yellow roses; quick-witted and greatly respected our United States Veterans.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, Grady Wade Risinger and Shirley Ann Risinger (Tindell) and granddaughter, Madelynn Rose Newman.

Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Jessica Newman (Newton) and husband Aaron; grandchildren Reagan and Tyler Newman; former spouse, Jerry Newton; brothers Dennis Risinger and wife Karen, Grady “Rodger” Risinger and wife Michelle, and Jimmy Darrell Risinger; along with numerous other nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.

Instead of flowers, the family asks donations be made to The Walker House – Veteran Community Base located at 1100 W. Walker Street, Denison, Texas 75020. The Walker House, affiliated with the Military Veteran Peer Network – Texoma Community, serves veterans by helping with court support, healthcare, suicide prevention, and much more. Memorial services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Reno, Texas. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
