Shooting at Booker T. Washington calls for emergency PHA Board meeting
Early Sunday morning on March 31, 2024, multiple shots were fired at the Paris Housing Authority property of Booker T. Washington. The event is currently under investigation by the Paris Police Department.
Jenny Wilson, Vice Chair of the Paris Housing Authority (PHA) Board stated, ” The PHA board and staff have been diligently addressing the safety and security concerns at all of our properties, specifically at Booker T. Washington. Our number one concern is for the safety of our residents and we are working with the City of Paris and HUD to explore options that will prevent this from ever happening again.”
Liz Brooks, PHA Executive Director added, “Our hearts go out to all the residents who experienced the traumatic event this past weekend. We pray that all of the victims are recovering and we are here to support them.”
An emergency PHA Board meeting has been scheduled for Friday, April 5th at 10 a.m. at the Booker T. Washington Community Center to address the incident and hear from the public. The meeting is open to the public. For more information, call the Paris Housing Authority at 903-784-6651.
