Michael Ray Applegate || Obituary

Michael Ray Applegate, 41, of Paris passed away at his home on March 31, 2024. He was born March 29, 1983, in Paris to parents, Mickey Applegate and Anita Starkey.

Michael owned Applegate and Sons Tree Service. He met many people throughout Lamar County as he worked, and some even became close friends. Michael will be remembered as a great father, hardworking and a good friend to many. He would help anyone in need.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Woodrow and Thelia Applegate; his father, Mickey Applegate; grandfather, Donald Starkey; aunts, Katy Applegate, Beverly Townsend, Carolyn Durham, Patsy Lappin, Betty Derry, Emma Applegate and Donna Starkey; uncles, Rudy, Jimmy Don, Roy Jr., Woodrow and Ben Applegate; brother-in-law, Wayne Myers Jr. and niece, Jaelynn Myers.

He is survived by his mother, Anita; sons, Michael Applegate Jr., Misek Rustle Applegate and baby boy, Maddoc Ranger Applegate; stepson, Dakota Lindsey; grandmother, Wilma Chandler; sisters, Ashlee Myers and Jennifer Thomas; uncles, Robert Applegate and Jok Starkey; nieces, Mazee, Paitun and Talin Myers; nephews, SPC Jathen Donaldson, Gavin and Jacob Thomas; Best friend and cousin, Rudy Applegate and his wife, Jessica and many more cousins.

Visitation with friends and family will be Thursday, April 4th from 6 – 8 p.m. Funeral service will be Friday, April 5th at 10 a.m. in Fry Gibbs Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Honey Grove.
