Betty C. Zak || Obituary
Betty C. Zak, 82, of Paris, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024, at Paris Regional Health.
A visitation is scheduled for Saturday, April 6th, from 3 – 4 p.m. at Bright-Holland Funeral Home.
Mrs. Zak, the daughter of Henry Chaney and Ethel (Watson) Chaney, was born June 29, 1941, in Colbert County, Alabama.
She graduated from Colbert County High School. Betty married Dennis Michael Zak, Sr. on Jan. 18, 1961, building 60 years of family and memories before his death on April 18, 2021.
She traveled across the country with Dennis’ work.
She was a stay-at-home mom until attending cosmetology school in Paris. Betty was a beauty operator for 30 years, owning and operating Zak’s of Paris.
She was a member of the Does with the Elks Lodge and the North Star 8 Square Dance Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dennis, and a brother, Charles Chaney.
Survivors include two children, Dennis Michael Zak, Jr. and Diane Zak Wied, three grandchildren, Courtney Sanchez (Richard), Brittany Poncik (Thomas), and Randal Garret Wied, a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Grace Poncik, and three siblings, June Shea, Dwight Chaney, and Doris Chaney along with numerous nieces & nephews and a host of friends.
Instead of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
