Upon her death, Joyce had reached the age of 91.  After battling cancer, heart problems, and kidney disease, she succumbed to her issues and passed away on March 23, 2024, at 7:15 a.m.

After retiring from McLaughlin, Hutchison, & Biard, attorneys in Paris, she continued to fill in as needed as a legal secretary until she began cancer treatments.  Joyce also worked for some years for William D. Tate, an attorney in Grapevine.

After retirement, she became very active in her church and other civic activities leaving her most weeks with only one day off.  As a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, she was very involved including serving in several capacities in UMW.  She served as a volunteer at various times with Paris Regional Medical Center, Co-Ministries Board, and Paris Junior College.  She held various offices, including past president, and “Woman of the Year” of Paris Business and Professional Women.  She was a member holding various offices, including past president and Treasurer of the Paris Noon Study Club.  She held several offices including past president of the Women’s Division of the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce. She served nine years on the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce Board.  With the Farmers Branch Library Board, she served nine years.

Though Joyce was very active in her church and community, she most wanted to be remembered for her love for the Lord and her family.

Joyce was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, Mr. & Mrs. A.C. Walker; brother, Bill Walker; sister, Margaret Moore, and grandson, Justin Springer.

Joyce is survived by: Children, Josha Epp and husband, Charles, of  Paris, Jeff Springer of Roxton, TX, Katrina Matassa and husband, Nick, of Rowlett, TX, John Springer and wife Debi, of Canandaigua, NY; Grandchildren, Marcus Springer and wife, Kelsey, of Cohocton, NY, Chelsea Springer of Farmington, NY, Kristin Matassa of Rowlett, TX, Cecely Maxwell and husband, Sid, of Wylie, TX, Kenny Epp of Largo, FL, Matt Epp of New Port Richey, FL; Great Grandchildren, Aidyn Springer  of Deport, TX, Layla Miller of Rowlett, TX, Adyson Miller of Rowlett, TX, Jacob Matassa of Wylie, TX and Hazel Maxwell of Wylie, TX.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Beverly Olsen officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeff Springer, John Springer, Charles Epp, Jacob Matassa, Syd Maxwell, and Lanny Springer. The family will receive friends one hour before service.
