Matthew Lee Stephenson || Obituary
Matthew Lee Stephenson, 62, of Atlas passed away suddenly at his home on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.
Matt was born on Jan. 13, 1962. Matt graduated from Windom High School in 1980. Matt spent most of his life working at Kimberly Clark where he made lifelong friends.
One thing about Matt is that you could count on endless jokes and leave any conversation with a smile on your face. He could tell the best stories. He brought so much joy to those around him. Matt was a devoted basketball fan. He loved getting to watch and support his sons as they played basketball in school. He always enjoyed following Alex’s career as a basketball coach. His pride and joy was with kids and grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Kenneth Hattanville and mother-in-law, Pauline Hatanville.
He is survived by his wife, Lori Stephenson and two sons whom he was very proud of- Brandon Stephenson, and his wife Ashley Stephenson of Aledo, TX. Alex Stephenson and his wife Taylor Stephenson of Weatherford, TX. He had four beautiful grandchildren that he loved dearly- Tatum, June, Archer, and Jay. A special aunt, Juaweice Campbell. Sister-in-law, Cindy Barrios and husband Pedro, Brother-in-law, Craig Hatanville and wife Virginia, Sister-in-law Paula Richardson and husband Stewart; several nephews and a niece.
Pallbearers will be: Jamie McDowell, Mark Mitchell, Jay Janes, Taylor Slagle, Matthew Albus, and Stewart Richardson Honorary Pallbearers will include: Pedro Barrios and Craig Hattanville
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 22nd at Roxton Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery in Roxton, TX. Visitation will start at 1 p.m. before the services.
