Jimmy Franklin Gibson || Obituary

Jimmy Franklin Gibson was born in Dallas on June 22, 1942, and passed away in Paris on March 16, 2024.

He lived and worked in Dallas before moving to Paris.  He worked at Frito Company and Cody Company in Ennis.

His parents, Bazell Franklin Gibson and Bernice Eugenia Coleman Gibson are deceased.  He comes from a long line of Gibsons. Thirty-five who all came together to Lamar County in 1896.  They came for the black land and cotton farming.

Many Gibsons and Colemans are buried in the Detroit Cemetery.  William Franklin Gibson, our great-grandfather, and our grandfather, Samuel Fleming Gibson (one of 12 children) and his wife, our grandmother, Mamie Rodgers Gibson, and our parents, Bazell and Bernice Gibson, are buried in Detroit. Cousins, aunts, and uncles are buried there as well.

Jimmy leaves his sister, Joyce Gibson Ratliff and brother, Mickey Gibson and many cousins, nieces and nephews and friends.

After moving to Paris he joined the Bow and Arrow Club and made many friends.  He loved to hunt and fish.  Later when he couldn’t do that anymore he enjoyed helping his friend Buck harvest pecans from a large pecan farm on the Red River.  He helped Susan with her dog and cat. He loved those years having coffee with the guys at Borderline,  thank you, Brandi, Susan Caldwell and her son and daughter were like family to him and included him in family celebrations. Glen and Beverly Coleman were wonderful to him in many ways.

He will be missed. Maybe you can plant a tree in his memory.
