Earl Maxfield, 77, of Blossom, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at his home.

Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled a memorial service for 2 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2024, at First Baptist Church Blossom with Rev. Mike Shupp officiating. The family will greet friends at the church following the service.

Earl, the son of Bundy G. Maxfield & Lola Davenport Maxfield, was born on Jan. 25, 1947, in Tyler.

He graduated from John Tyler High School and attended Baylor University where he played football. He then signed with the Washington Red Skins where he played several years. Following that he moved to Blossom in 1987, where he pursued his dream of becoming a cattle rancher. He loved the ranch and fed the cattle just hours before his passing.

He was a member of First Baptist Church Blossom and the Lamar County Coon Hunters.

His parents and a sister, Bobbye Maxfield Hood, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Maxfield, whom he married in 1977, two daughters, Tracey Maxfield Collins (David) and Terry Maxfield, a granddaughter, Jordan Kuzmich, two siblings, Nathaniel Maxfield and Patsy Cunniff and several nieces & nephews along with a host of friends.
