In a proud moment for the North Lamar Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter, 16 dedicated students were honored with the prestigious Greenhand FFA degree during the chapter’s meeting on Feb. 22, 2024. Led by their officer team, the meeting marked a significant milestone for the students and the chapter alike.

To attain the Greenhand FFA degree, students at North Lamar must fulfill a series of requirements that demonstrate their commitment to agricultural education and the principles of the FFA organization. Among these requirements, students must be enrolled in an agricultural class and exhibit a thorough understanding of key FFA elements.

These elements include the FFA motto, salute, and creed, which embody the core values of the organization. Additionally, students must demonstrate knowledge of the FFA emblem and colors, understanding their significance and representation within the FFA community.

Furthermore, recipients of the Greenhand FFA degree are required to adhere to the FFA Code of Ethics and understand the proper use of the iconic FFA jacket, a symbol of pride and tradition for members nationwide.

Beyond these foundational elements, students must exhibit comprehension of the organization’s history, the chapter constitution and bylaws, and the chapter’s Program of Activities, showcasing their dedication to FFA principles and initiatives.

Each Greenhand FFA degree recipient also pledged their commitment to the FFA by owning or having access to the Official FFA Student Handbook, a valuable resource that guides members on their FFA journey.

The achievement of the Greenhand FFA degree signifies a deep-seated dedication to the principles of leadership, personal growth, and agricultural advocacy that the FFA embodies
