Chisum host Region 8 VACE Art Contest
Chisum High School hosted The TAEA Region 8 VASE Art contest on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024. Seventeen schools submitted three hundred and seventeen artworks to be juried for the chance to earn a regional gold medal. Chisum had twenty-six students and forty-two artworks compete, of which all students received at least one regional medal for one artwork. Fourteen students received two regional medals, and sixteen entries received perfect scores. A composite score of the artwork and student interview determines the rating.
Of the three hundred and seventeen artworks only twenty-seven were selected as state qualifiers to compete at the State VASE Art Event in San Marcos this April. Chisum had seven out of twenty-seven artworks advance to state, six students, the most from all the schools that competed in this year’s contest.
In addition to the contest, the event featured Texas A&M Commerce Art Professor Dr. Beatriz Galuban as a guest speaker.
