William (Bill) White

William (Bill) White passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 6 at the age of 81. Under the direction of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home, graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 2024, under the pavilion at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Petty Texas with Bill Coleman officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the cemetery.

Bill was born Dec. 22, 1942, in Petty in the home of his parents, Christine and Melvin “Big Bill” White. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Barbara White, his brother J.D. White, and his brother-in-law Tom Whitaker.

Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carolyn Whitaker White. He is also survived by daughter Becky White Brown, husband Chad and their children Grace and Claire, son Stephen White, wife Katherine and their children Avery and Connor. Also surviving are sister-in-law and brother-in-law Gail and John Chiles, and sister-in-law Gloria Whitaker.

He began working for Liberty National Bank in 1978 and spent the majority of his career specializing in residential appraisals, retiring after 30 years.

Bill was part of the Calvary United Methodist Church community for 60 years, and an active member of the Joy Sunday school class.

In the Paris Breakfast Optimist Club, Bill served terms as President and District Officer. He was also instrumental in the planning of the original Woodall Baseball Fields.

An avid fan of the Texas Rangers, Bill attended many games and watched just about all of the others on TV. He also loved fishing, solving the world’s problems while mowing, and country music.

Mentor, Coach, Friend and Positive Presence to all who knew him, Bill was a kind and caring man fully devoted to his family.
