Jimmy Earl Sherbert


Jimmy Earl Sherbert was born Aug. 23, 1949, to parents, Mallard Sherbert and Ethel Horton Sherbert, in Dallas. He was one of 13 children.

Jimmy joined the U.S. Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was an avid hunter and fisherman as well as a loving husband, father, son, grandfather and brother. Before retirement, he operated a forklift at Campbell Soup for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jimmy D. Sherbert; his wife, Janice Sherbert; sisters, Frances Marie Sherbert, Imogene Taylor, Gearldine L. Blackwell and Lovita Clemets; brothers, James L. Sherbert and Charles W. Sherbert.

He is survived by his sisters, Dorothy Blackwell, Barbara Green and husband, Don, Carolyn Jones and husband, Tommy, and Sandra McCutcheon; brothers, Donald Sherbert and wife, Gaynell and Mallard Junior Sherbert; his beloved grandchildren, Katelyn Gail Sherbert, Dallas Gamon and Kennedy Williams; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Brother Mark Sanders will officiate the graveside service at Forest Chapel Cemetery on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 12:30 p.m. A visitation will be held at Fry Gibbs Funeral Home on that Saturday at 11 a.m.
