Gloria Ann (French) Dodd || Obituary
Gloria Ann (French) Dodd, 89, of Bogata, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024, at Spring Lake Assisted Living and Memory Care in Paris.
Mrs. Dodd, the daughter of Edward Isaac French & Juanita Marie Butler French, was born Oct. 13, 1934, in Houston. She enjoyed baking, especially birthday cakes, and was an entrepreneur having pioneered a catering business specializing in weddings and other events. While living in Wilmington, NC, she was active with the “Welcome Wagon”. Gloria was a member of the Red Hat Society and Queen of the Bogata Chapter. She was a faithful member of the Bogata United Methodist Church, where she served in many capacities and was active with the Methodist Women.
She enjoyed snow skiing, water skiing, playing bridge, swimming, diving, roller skating, and in her younger years performed routines with a dance partner for different events.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Henry Clay “Jack” Dodd, Jr., who passed away on July 24, 2016, two sisters, Eddie Marie Snell and Betty Jean Pierson & husband Jim Bob Pierson, a sister-in-law, Mary Dodd Greene, and a brother-in-law, David Hiram Dodd & wife Betty Lee Dodd.
Survivors include three children, Danise Petticrew, Kristy Lynch & husband Richard Lynch, and Clay Dodd & wife NaNa Jutharat Dodd, three grandchildren, whom she enjoyed interacting with, Joshua Robert Petticrew & wife Ashlea, Brianna Marie Covington & husband Dakota, and Robert Lee Miller, III & wife Fenna along with seven great grandchildren, numerous nieces & nephews and a host of friends.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home made burial in Bogata Cemetery.
