William Glenn Godwin


William Glenn Godwin, 85, of Blossom, passed away Friday, Jan. 19, 2024, at Brentwood Terrace Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.

Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22nd at Blossom Church of God with Rev. Larry Bridges officiating. Graveside services, officiated by Rev. Benny Dollins & Rev. Jimmy Ramsey, will follow at Knights of Honor Cemetery.

Mr. Godwin, the son of William S. Godwin & Lucille Randolph Godwin, was born Feb. 25, 1938, in Hubbard. He went to grade school in Hubbard, graduated from DeKalb High School in 1956, and attended Texarkana Junior College. In 1960, he entered the United States Air Force. Upon his honorable discharge from the military, he began working for Oil Well Supply and Geotech Instruments in Garland where he became a machinist. In 1969, he moved to Lamar County and continued his career as a machinist with the Campbell Soup Company which spanned 30 years before his retirement. Following retirement, he worked as a machinist for Gerald Briggle Machine Shop and Gifford Hydraulics. 

For many years he was active in the Full Gospel Businessmen and was past president of the local chapter. William was a Blossom Church of God member for more than 30 years and had served as a deacon. 

He enjoyed cattle ranching, horses, and the outdoors. 

His parents and his wife of 56 years, Delores Jane Godwin, preceded him in death.

Survivors include two sons, Glenn Scott Godwin & wife Shelley and William Marlin “Bill” Godwin & wife Laura, grandchildren, William Spencer Godwin & wife Lexxi,  Clayton Andrew Godwin, Cheyenne Gray & husband Austin, and William Shayne Godwin, and great-grandchildren, Malaya Spradlin, Lily Jane Godwin, and James Gray along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of friends.
