Margaret Ruth Spillman || Obituary

Margaret Ruth Spillman, affectionately known as Maggie was born to Ross and Violet Holland in Jonesboro, La. on Easter, March 24, 1940. On Jan. 20, 2024, surrounded by her loving family she passed peacefully into her eternal home with Jesus.

She was a graduate of Jonesboro Hodge High School; later attending Louisiana Tech. Maggie married the love of her life, Robert (Bobby) Spillman, on Aug. 22, 1964, in Jonesboro, La. building a beautiful life together of 59 years. She was a homemaker; supporting her husband as bookkeeper of their trucking business for almost 40 years. Her only desire was to be a wife and mother. She devoted her life to her family and there was no greater joy for her than to be surrounded by them. She came to know Jesus at an early age and was of the Baptist faith. Her great faith in the Lord is what carried her through her blindness and long illness.

Maggie is survived by her husband Bobby; daughter Shannon Jones, son Shane Spillman (Shawntae); five grandchildren, Tyler Jones (Ashlie), Rachel Sims (JD), Haleigh Owen, Eric Owen, Erin (EJ) Spillman; six great-grandchildren, Ryder Jones, Nolan Jones, Jaiden Sims, Kobe Sims, Tayson Shane Gibson, Avery Kate Gibson; one sister, Glenda Boyd; nieces and nephews; countless friends.

The celebration of her life will be held Saturday, Jan. 27, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the Paris New Generation Church with Pastor Shannon McGuire officiating; under the direction of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. Visitation with family and friends will be held at 10 a.m. before the service. There will be no graveside services since she is to be cremated. Special thanks to her devoted caregivers who made her last days beautiful, Mattie McGuire, Kacie Mills, Rachel Wood, Dr. Richard Bercher and all the nurses at Platinum Hospice.

Pallbearers will be Bryson Gibson, Tyler Jones, Eric Owen, JD Sims, and Randy Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be her five great-grandsons.
