John Henry Gentry

John Henry Gentry, 83, of Paris, passed away Sunday, Jan. 14, 2024, at Paris Regional Health.

Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19^th at Lamar Avenue Church of Christ with Keith Bollman officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery at Taylortown. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service. John, the son of Johnny B. Gentry & Dovie Gordon Gentry, was born July 7, 1940, in Slabtown. He graduated from Cunningham High School and attended Paris Junior College. John moved to Dallas where he worked for International Harvester. Upon returning to Paris, he began a career with B & W which spanned 28 years before his retirement. He was a member of Lamar Avenue Church of Christ. John enjoyed fishing, camping, golf, and tinkering in his shop and was an avid gardener. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Brad Gentry, and a stepdaughter, Yvette Snow.

Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Gage Gentry, a step-daughter, Jae Dickinson & husband John, a step-son-in-law, Kevin Snow & wife Ann, grandchildren, Meagan Earthman & husband Michael, Matt Dickinson & wife Aime’e, Austin Snow & wife Amber, and Ben Dickinson & wife Danielle, great grandchildren, Ansley, Acen, Aubrey, Lawson, Hunter, Connor, and Shepherd,  a sister, Je Nola Cavender & husband Gene, a niece, Vicki Lewis and a nephew Ronny Booth along with a host of friends.

Casket bearers will be Stanley Figueroa, Eddie Pickering, Gerald Cobb, Matt Cobb, John Dickinson, and Steve Ladd.  Instead of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in John’s memory to The Lamar Avenue Church of Christ Latch Key Program, 3535 Lamar Avenue, Paris, Texas  75460.
