Jesse Leon Medcalf || Obituary
Jesse Leon Medcalf entered this life on April 20, 1956, in Sherman the son of Annie Leona Rigsbay Medcalf and Henry Leon Medcalf. He departed to be with the Lord on Jan. 9, 2024.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 13, at 2 p.m. at Midway Assembly of God, 11672 FM 197, Arthur City, TX. Interment will follow at Windom Cemetery. Family visitation will take place at the church from 12 p.m.-2 p.m., before the funeral service.
Jesse spent his youth in Windom moving as a freshman to Dodd City and graduating from Dodd City High School in 1974. He joined the US Army and saw a bit of the wider world when he was stationed in Germany. After his discharge from the service, he pursued his lifelong interest in law enforcement, retiring from the Killeen Police Department in 1999. A second career then unfolded when he joined Diamond F Electric as a journeyman electrician. He traveled the state helping to build huge commercial enterprises such as Walmart superstores, trailer plants, and the like. Becoming an electrician was a source of pride, the fount of many adventures, and stories laughingly told. Jesse also loved history, especially the history of the 19th century West and the development of the north Texas region from the early 1800’s onward. Jesse married the love of his life, Patti Sue Farmer, on Dec. 31, 1974. To this union, three beautiful children were born.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patti Medcalf; son, Nathan Medcalf; son, Eric Medcalf and wife Leilisa; grandchildren Kaleb Medcalf, Jessica Medcalf, Alyssa Medcalf, Joshua Medcalf, Leinette Medcalf, Ethan Medcalf, and Lexia Medcalf; 10 great-grandchildren; mother, Annie Medcalf; sister, Wanda Oliver and husband David; and a large and beloved extended family. He is preceded in death by his father, Leon Medcalf; daughter, Rachel Roberts; and grandson Tyler Roberts.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Eathan Medcalf, Kaleb Medcalf, Josh Medcalf, Kody Johnson, Christopher Roberts and Tarynce McCoin.
