James Wallace Winters


James Wallace Winters 87, of Paris, went to be with the Lord Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023, at his home.  Services are scheduled for Friday, Dec. 22, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home in Paris with Rev. Kelly Collins and Jackie Spencer officiating.  Visitation will be held prior to service from 1 – 2  p.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery.

James, the son of John and Imogene Winters, was born Oct. 1936, in Lamar County.  He was a faithful member of Pattonville Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for 57 years.  James worked as a tractor mechanic for many years and eventually began his own tractor repair shop and metal building business.  During his younger years, he enjoyed camping, fishing, and tractor pulling.  He also worked for MJC Water Supply for 30 years and was a current operator for Pattonville Water Supply for the past thirty years. He loved spending time with his many friends, especially his daily coffee group.  He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, and a very generous man with a sweet spirit who never met a stranger.

James married Katy Ann Floyd on July 29, 1953.  They shared their lives until her death on March 24, 2021, celebrating 67 years of family and memories. He was also preceded in death by his parents; sister, Shirley Winters; son, Ricky Winters;and granddaughter, Tera Winters Sony.

James is survived by a daughter, Pam Bull & husband Terry of Powderly; a son, Michael Winters & wife Linda of Pattonville; a daughter, Laura Herod & husband Richard of Holly Lake Ranch; grandchildren Kristi Head & husband Cody; Stephanie Parker, late husband Kristopher Parker; Jeremy Parnell & wife Sarah, Scot Herod and wife Alexis; Justin Armstrong, Brittany Cooper & husband Jeff; Jessica Cearley & husband Jason; John Michael Winters & wife Bethany; Kaitlyn Stewart &husband Drake; great-grandchildren: Mallory & husband Damon, Emerald, Alexis, Madison, Ella, Reese, Brenna, Sadie, Rex, Ryker, Chloe, Bristol, Everett, James, Faith, Caleb, Emerson, & Grace; great-great children: Leo & Sophia.

James is also survived by his brother Bobby Winters (wife Betty); sister Patsy Norwood (late husband James), and brother-in-law, Max Floyd (late wife Brigitte), along with several nieces & nephews and a host of friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Doug Winters, Kip Winters, Wes Winters, Tommy Bove, David Isaac Power and Tracy Norwood.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to his loving caregiver, Brenda Harkins for her faithful, and self-sacrificing care for the last sixteen months.  The family would also like to express their appreciation to the employees of Waterford Hospice for their kindness and consideration during this time.
