William Ethel Layton || Obituary

William Ethel Layton, age 74, of Powderly, passed away at Paris Regional Health on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023. 

Memorial services are to be held at a future date with cremation under the continued care of Bright-Holland Funeral Home.

William was born Aug. 9, 1949, in Jackson, MS to J.H. and Elma Lee McNeese Layton.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and his family loved him immensely.  He loved his big rigs and was widely known in trucking circles.  He also collected model trucks.  Known for always being in his boots and cowboy hat and for his outsized personality, he was always a flirt and cut-up.  He did painting for many years and in his younger days built hotrods. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Shirley Layton, and a daughter, Anita Gordon. 

Survivors include his wife, Paula Layton; children, Denise Moore, James Layton & wife Christina Gordon, and Clifford Layton & wife Amber; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as sisters, Brenda Lane & husband Jeff, and Patricia Eden & husband David.
