Paris Smokeasy

It was a BIG NIGHT for the Paris Smokeasy cigar club for several reasons. First off, November is the month that we recognize Veterans Day for those who served our great country! As a club, we give thanks every day to those military, law enforcement, and firefighters who keep us safe on a daily. We started by officially recognizing our 20+ members and cigar reps who are veterans. Second, this smoke night was our 6th Anniversary as a club. In those six years, we have had smoked 1764 cigars and have had almost 1900 attendees. Lastly, we celebrated our club host, Rigby’s Cigar & Lounge, on their first anniversary and being the nicest Cigar Lounge in NE Texas!

Noel Rojas is a Dallas area boutique cigar manufacturer. He says he represents a different Cuban-American Cigar manufacturer. A new generation cigar maker who wants to break the barriers of flavor and complexity by specializing in his claim to being the “KSG” or “King of the Small Gauge” cigars! It has been said by many that up to 80% of the flavor in a cigar comes from the wrapper. So, Noel specializes in those smaller ring gauges and just the right blend to bring out the most flavor from the tobacco that he can with each vitola in his lines. Noel states quality control in things like gauge and weight are some of the most essential things when manufacturing cigars, especially small gauges. Every cigar is weighted and measured by the #teamrojas at his factory in Esteli, Nicaragua

Mr. Noel was born in Cuba and moved to Miami when he was around 19 or 20 to escape the communist regime. He spent 5 years in Miami before moving to Nicaragua for 5 years. This is where he met Arsenio Ramos, the master blender at Aganorsa Leaf, who took him under his wing and taught him about tobacco and cigars. During his travels in the cigar world, he found Texas, Richardson to be exact and has been calling it home for the last 12 years. In 2019, his dream of owning a cigar company came to life and he started Rojas Cigars LLC.

For this smoke we were blessed to have the VP of Sales & Marketing at Rojas Cigars, Albert Cisneros, along with his court-appointed handler – Marilu Cisneros, to give us the rundown on the Rojas Cigars, some history of their lines, and what we were smoking for the night. We had the medium-bodied Rojas Unfinished Business in a 6” x 50-gauge Toro. It has an Ecuadorian Sumatra Wrapper, a Nicaraguan Binder, and Fillers from both Nicaragua and Mexico. With 68 people present it came in with a Redneck Ratin of 89 out of 100. I just finished a box of these in the Mareva 5 ½” x 42-gauge and can tell you there is a difference in flavor between the two with the smaller size being a more medium-full to me. I picked up a box of the Rojas Bluebonnets at the event as a Rojas cigar is a regular in my weekly evening rotation. Previously we have had the Rojas Street Taco Toro which scored a Redneck Ratin of 89 out of 100 in May of ’21 and the Gallo Pinto x Rojas Habano Torpedo, which is a great $5 budget stick, rated 84/100 as our Mystery Smoke earlier this year. The bottom line is Noel Rojas and his team make some great Small Ring Gauge cigars and a line that everyone should pick up and try.

Our sponsor for the night was Grease Slinger Tools – Snap-On with owners Alexie Noble and Cliff Noble. They each have their own Snap-On Truck and cover Paris, Cooper, Commerce, Honey Grove, De Kalb, as well as Hugo and Valliant, OK.  They don’t just call on automotive service shops, dealerships, and big and small companies, they also sell to individuals who want the best tools available. Additionally, they carry Milwaukee and Dewalt tools.

So between Cigars and Cool Tools, the Christmas List should be easy to fill!
