St. Paul Baptist Church surprises shoppers at Piggly Wiggly by paying for their groceries

This time of year is a reminder of how wonderful it is to be a blessing to others. Nothing but joy, smiles and expressions of gratitude and thankfulness were exclaimed from unsuspecting shoppers at the local Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store.
On Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, St. Paul Baptist Church surprised shoppers at the Piggly Wiggly on Bonham Street and 7th N.W. by paying an amount towards their total or by paying their grocery bill in full ahead of Thanksgiving Day.
Every hour from opening to close, 8 a.m. – to 9 p.m. St. Paul members appeared prepared to Be-A- Blessing to families this holiday season.
In total, the church provided groceries for more than 25 families, with many members blessing multiple families while there in addition to providing a Free Meal to the community every Sunday November-December at 444 2nd NE Paris, TX at 11 a.m. Thus far St. Paul’s Message and a Meal has served over 430 families.
The Pastor of St. Paul Baptist Church, Dr. Shay Bills said, “The Day of Thanks Giving Drive-by-Blessings and Sundays Message and a Meal is meant to show the love of Christ to our community and demonstrate that even in the midst of rising food costs, increased household expenses and economic uncertainties the church and residents of Lamar County still have much to be Thankful for and are all in this together.”
